BUNKER HILL 2895 The High Carcass Plus indexing ram lamb in the Suffolk breed born in 2014 with a Carcass Plus index of 170, a Post Weaning Weight EBV of +11.3 and Eye Muscle Depth EBV of +.5

Bunker Hill 2895 is just one of four different unproven Suffolk ram lambs we used this fall. Although we feel confident that their composite EBVs of 163 Carcass Plus Index, 8.8 Post weaning growth and 1.0 Eye Muscle Depth will be nearly accurate. We are just as confident that their individual EBVs for those same traits will shift. That is the main reason we progeny test our best ram lambs each year, to better determine the accuracies of their breeding values. Come this spring when our lambs are born and the data is recorded and analyzed we expect a few real surprises on how we evaluate these four potential studs.

We hope to retain one or two of these young rams for future use in our flock with the balance offered for sale. If you would like to be updated on the progress of these young sires; Bunker Hill 2870, Bunker Hill 2889, Bunker Hill 2895 and Bunker Hill 2910 just let us know. We would also encourage anyone who would like to know the news at Bunker Hill Farm when it is still news to subscribe to our blog.
